Job Location: A high-rise condominium on A1A in Fort Lauderdale Florida, 33308. Cause of the issue: The building has had re-occurring sewer back-ups from heavy build up in cast iron sewer pipes. Resolution: The building has had sewer line and kitchen sinks back up into the units in the past with caused damage to unit owner’s property/building. As a measure to prevent future damage, the team at Rhino Rooter completed a system cleaning on the main sewer, kitchen sink, and laundry vents and lateral lines. Job Location: Multi-Story Condominium Building located in Hollywood FL, with drain pipe leaking between two units on two different floors. Cause of Issue: Cracked PVC joint and poor Plumbing installation. Resolution: The owner that lived in the lower unit seen water dripping from her ceiling and contacted Management in the association. The Management team then contacted Rhino Rooter to investigate the situation. The plumbers cut open the ceiling and found that tub drain pipe was cracked at a PVC joint, the pipe that was installed was a tubular style pipe that was not connected properly causing leaks at fittings. The upstairs unit’s wall in the closet also had to be cut open to access the waste and overflow section of the drain line. The entire waste and overflow were replaced with new SCH 40 PVC pipe and solvent weld fittings (glued fittings to pipe) with a new chrome tub shoe drain and overflow plate cover.  After installation, the drain function properly with no leaks and drained much more efficiently. In front of the bathroom sink is where most of us will start and end our day. The bathroom sink is a multi-function sink. Anything from brushing our teeth, shaving, washing off our faces/hands, to pouring down old medicines and makeup. This sink will see a lot of activity throughout the day. The common drain issue with this sink is that the drain line pipe size is only 1 ¼” and the items that get washed down it build up very easy. For example, in the morning you will brush your teeth and let’s say you shave with shaving cream both these products become foamy and stick to the interior walls of the pipes and create a buildup on the pipes. Then the Missies comes in and does the same and adds washing off her makeup items which is high is oil base, which means more build up. This keeps occurring day after day till the sink slows down and then it will eventually completely stop draining. If this occurs luckily many times the blockage is in the p-trap under the sink where you as a home owner can take apart the pipes and clean out this drain. However, if that does not resolve the problem then the best thing would be to call in a local plumber and have them cable the drain to remove any build up in the pipes. This should take care of this drain clog and have you back to a fully functional sink in no time. If you have any questions about your bathroom sink call Rhino Rooter and speak to a plumbing professional today. [caption id="attachment_41" align="alignnone" width="225"] Clogged sink[/caption]...
