Is your kitchen sink backing up? Does it slowly drain leaving behind grease and grim? There may be a larger underlying problem that should be addressed! There are many reasons a kitchen sink drain may clog. The largest reason for kitchen sink back up tends to be food down the garbage disposal. The garbage disposal is not your friend unless your friends come over and purposely cause your kitchen sink to back up by forcing food into the drain. You should also never pour any type of grease or oils into your drain. Over time they will cause heavy blockages which may require heavy-duty equipment to unstop the drain. So what happens if you do have a backup? Well, let's start off with stay away from those draining opening products. Most will contain some type of acid which will cause more damage than good. The best thing to do is call in a licensed plumber. A plumber will have the proper tools and knowledge to get the drain open and running in no time. The most common way to clear this type of stoppage would be a sewer snake machine. A cable machine is basically a wire that is able to be pushed down the drain from an opening and scrape the blockage or build up from the pipe walls. There is also hydro jetting which you can read more about on our website www.Rhino-Rooter.com or go back to our main blog page. We have all done it. This local Boca Raton restaurant poured the grease down the drain.  If you are one of these folks that thinks it's ok to pour grease down the drain, get familiar with hydro jetting. When grease is poured down a drain, at first everything seems normal. However, inside your pipes lies a major problem just waiting to happen. Each time grease is poured down the drain it slowly cools. Causing it to harden inside the pipes. Over time this will build up and create a blockage! Most of the times this is a blockage cannot be cleared with a traditional sewer snake. The best option when done using any grease, fats, or oils would be to place them in a container and throw them into the trash. What is hydro jetting? Hydro jetting is a way of cleaning a sewer pipe using high pressured water. The machine has a long hose with specially designed ends to pressure clean the interior walls of the pipe. This is the safest and best way to clean out a system. The extreme water flow and pressure can clear any clogged line. Jetting is not just limited to grease blockages. It can be used to remove roots, or even descale a cast iron pipe! If you have any questions or are in need of our plumbing services call our office today! LOCATION: Boca Raton FL, 33431 (Slow tub Drain) CAUSE OF PROBLEM: Hair and soap scum RESOLUTION: Have you ever taken a shower and the water starts rising to your ankles? We all dislike the discomfort of a slow tub drain. There is nothing worse them trying to feel nice and clean only to be splashing around in your own dirty water. There are many causes to a slow tub drain. One of the most obvious reasons would be hair that makes its way down the drain only to slow things up. Bust lets say you have no hair what might cause a slow tub drain? The normal oils on your body mixed with the fats in the soaps will cause a scum build up. It almost is like a thick "jelly" type material that will build up over time and cause the drain to come to a complete stop. So your net question maybe how to prevent this from happening. The best way to prevent hair from causing a slow tub drain would be to use a screen. This way when your showering is complete you can remove and clean the screen. As far as regular build up, the safest way is to mix two parts white vinegar to one part baking soda. Mix the products and let the mixture sit for a few hours. Then run hot water to flush it out of the pipes. If the block is already past the point of no return then you may want us to come take a look. Rhino Rooter plumbers will be well equipped to handle any drain back up. So if you have a pesky drain, give us a call and we will get things flowing in no time. There is a reason we are South Florida's Most Trusted Plumbers. ...

LOCATION: Boca Raton FL, 33431 (Hydro Jetting) CAUSE OF PROBLEM: Repeat Sewer Back Ups. RESOLUTION: There are many ways to go about maintaining your drain system. The original sewer cleaning machine was invented in 1933 by Samuel Blanc. Since then so much has changed and the plumbing industry has many technical upgrades in systems and equipment used to maintain them. one of the most popular methods of drain cleaning is called Hydro Jetting. Hydro jetting is a machine that is used to pressure clean the interior walls of pipe systems. There is no better way to clean grease or a soft blockage in a sewer. The equipment is capable of delivering 4000 psi at 18 gallons a minute. There are even hydro jetters used by municipalities that are larger and more power to maintain the larger city sewers. The sewer cable machine is still used to this day, however, it has its drawbacks. A cable machine can only reach so far where a Hydro Jetter can max out 500 plus feet. The hydrojetter can self propel itself down a sewer pipe. Which means less stress to a plumbers body. The way the machine works is that it has a motor and a pump. Which cause pressure to build up and send water into a high pressured hose. From the hose, it will travel to what is known as the head. The jet head has holes allowing a 360-degree cleaning of the pipe. To find out more information you can visit our main website at www.Rhino-Rooter.com and learn more. Location: Boca Raton 33428 (Bathroom Sink Clogged) Cause of Problem: Bathroom Sink would not drain due to build up blocking pipe. Resolution: A commercial office building placed a service call for a bathroom sink clogged in the lobby restroom. There was multiple lavatory sinks in the restroom, however only one was effected by the clog. The Rhino Rooter plumber was able quickly jump into action and use a wet-vac to vacuum out the water from the sink! Then he removed the p-trap from the bottom of the sink. The plumber then used his drain machine with steel cable to snake the drain line. Once the cable reached the end he then connected the p-trap back to the sink and tested the drain. And BOOM the bathroom sink clogged was no more! The cable did pull back a bunch of black sludge, YUCK! Bathroom sinks that become clogged are a common thing. There are many reasons which may cause the sink to clog. A bathroom sink clogged could be caused simply by soap scum and natural body oils from washing your hands. When you really think about how much actually goes down your sink (soap, toothpaste, hair, make-up, etc.) it may make you think twice! You should never use a drain opening product in your sink. The best way to maintain your sink drain is baking soda and vinegar. Use two parts white vinegar and one part baking soda. Mix them together and pour down your drain. Allow to sit in drain for a couple hours in pipes. Then use very hot (carefully with protection) and pour it down the drain to flush away the build up! If you have a bathroom sink clogged or any plumbing issues or questions call us today! Broward County (954) 651-3229 or Palm Beach (561) 717-8523. Location: Office Building located in Boca Raton Florida, 33432. Problem: Repeat sewer backups. [caption id="attachment_137" align="alignnone" width="711"] Sewer[/caption] Resolution: After an office building was having repeat sewer backups and Plumbing Company after Plumbing Company was just showing up to snake the pipe and clear the blockage. The building manager contacted Rhino Rooter to see if there was something else that could be done to prevent the repeat clogs. Once the Rhino Rooter Plumber cleared the pipe, they used a state of the art, sewer video inspection camera that was able to inspect the condition of the pipeline live and in color. The sewer camera was able to show that there was a very large ball of paper towels and feminine products stuck in the pipe. A recorded video (on a thumb drive) was made to be sent to their corporate headquarters out of state so that upper management was able to see the cause of the issues. The plumber removed the blockage and open the pipe to operate with full capacity. The sewer camera is a very important tool for any plumber to have, however very few companies have this type of technology. The camera can remove any guessing of what may be the condition of a pipe's interior. May times a camera may show problems that are able to be resolved before a problem gets out of hand and costly. Rhino Rooter has the ability to record the video feed and create a copy and report for customers as some maybe out of state or for insurance companies that may request documentation there are some companies that may not be able to perform this function. If you have any questions on sewer video inspections or any plumbing, please contact us at (954) 651-3229 in Broward County or (561) 717-8523 in Palm Beach County....

Location: Apartment Complex in Coconut Creek Florida, 33063. Cause of Problem: Main Sewer backup caused by paper towels and baby wipes. Resolution:  An Apartment Complex contacted Rhino Rooter early on Saturday Morning for a Plumber to assist with a building that was housing 40 plus units that were completely backed up. The Plumber arrived to find that the entire building was clogged with all units on the first floor experiencing sewer backing up into their tubs and showers, yuck! It was the Main Sewer pipe for the building that had become stopped up, which, unfortunately, all of the building drains were connected to. The service tech was able to locate the Main Line Cleanout and snake the drain to get the building sewers flowing again. When the line was cleared, it was found that the line had become clogged by paper towels and baby wipes. Baby wipes and paper towels will not naturally break down in water and become very heavy in the pipes which do not allow them to flow correctly through the sewer system. They will eventually build up and create a blockage. Sometimes they even become very hard to unclog and may require large equipment to handle the problem. It's best to toss anything besides waste or toilet paper into a garbage bin.
