Water leaking from Ice Maker supply line.
Condo in Boca Raton Florida 33434.
Rhino Rooter was called for a leak that was occurring between floors of a multi-story condominium in lovely Boca Raton. When the plumber arrived he found that there was some water staining on the ceiling of the unit below. He the proceeded to the unit above and moved the refrigerator to investigate. It was found that a leaking ice maker supply line had caused the damage. The leaking ice maker supply line was connected to the refrigerator water supply. The other end ran though the wall to a bathroom. The leaking ice maker supply line was connected to the cold water angle stop for the lavatory sink. The plumber was able to disconnect the plastic tubing leaking ice maker supply line on both ends. He removed the old damaged supply. The plumber then proceeded to replace the leaking ice maker supply line with a new steel braided hose supply. The water was turned back on and it was tested for leaks.
It is very important to always inspect and physically check all supply line in your home and businesses. The average life of a supply line is about 5-7 years, and at that time it is recommended that supply lines be replaced. Most of your fixtures and appliances that use water will have a supply line/hose. Some include Toilets, Faucets, Washing Machine, Dishwasher, ETC. All supply lines should be connected to a working angle stop/shut off valve. It is very important that these valves are in good working condition. If there is a break or leak on the supply this will allow the water to be shut down. If this valve fails the next place to shut off water will be the main water shut off for the home or business.
