LOCATION: Boca Raton FL, 33431 (Hydro Jetting) CAUSE OF PROBLEM: Repeat Sewer Back Ups. RESOLUTION: There are many ways to go about maintaining your drain system. The original sewer cleaning machine was invented in 1933 by Samuel Blanc. Since then so much has changed and the plumbing industry has many technical upgrades in systems and equipment used to maintain them. one of the most popular methods of drain cleaning is called Hydro Jetting. Hydro jetting is a machine that is used to pressure clean the interior walls of pipe systems. There is no better way to clean grease or a soft blockage in a sewer. The equipment is capable of delivering 4000 psi at 18 gallons a minute. There are even hydro jetters used by municipalities that are larger and more power to maintain the larger city sewers. The sewer cable machine is still used to this day, however, it has its drawbacks. A cable machine can only reach so far where a Hydro Jetter can max out 500 plus feet. The hydrojetter can self propel itself down a sewer pipe. Which means less stress to a plumbers body. The way the machine works is that it has a motor and a pump. Which cause pressure to build up and send water into a high pressured hose. From the hose, it will travel to what is known as the head. The jet head has holes allowing a 360-degree cleaning of the pipe. To find out more information you can visit our main website at www.Rhino-Rooter.com and learn more. The home owner was in the middle of cooking for a large party and repairs where urgent. The Rhino Rooter plumber was dispatch immediately to investigate the situation. The plumber found that the garbage disposal leaking from the base of the housing. Unfortunately this particular leak was not repairable. It also created large mess from the leaking into the cabinets below. The leaking garbage disposal was replace with a new unit. The plumber installed a Badger 5 disposal with new electrical whip. The basket drain was also removed and replace from the stainless steel sink. The new basket drain was installed so that the new disposal would fit correctly and be leak free. The new drain also insured a nice tight seal to prevent future leaks and issues. All the work was able to be completed in a timely fashion that the customers dinner party did not skip a beat. The modern garbage disposal average life expectancy is is anywhere from 6-10 years. It is best to only use the the garbage disposal for small amounts of food at a time. You should NEVER use the disposal as a garbage. Avoid egg shells, pasta/noodles, coffee grounds, fruit peels, rice, and similar items. The best way to clean your garbage disposal is simple. Fill the disposal and sink full of ice cubes and turn the unit on. This will actually cause the blades to be cleaned of any food build up to eliminate smells. After you can mix two part white vinegar to one part baking soda and pour down the disposal. Let it sit for an hour then, pour hot water down the drain to flush out. Toilet issues are something most homeowners will have to deal with at some point in the life of their home or condo. Here is the story of a recent plumbing issue Rhino Rooter resolved for a homeowner. Location: Condominium unit located in Pompano Beach FL, 33062. Cause of the Problem: The existing toilet was from the year 1996 and the “jets” were failing, not allowing proper flush. [caption id="attachment_115" align="alignnone" width="711"] Problematic-Toilet[/caption] Resolution:  When the Plumber arrived onsite for an emergency plumbing problem he found that the toilet in the condo was unable to flush. After further investigation and testing of the toilet, it was found that the commode was old and having issues with flow resection. Here in South Florida, we, for the most part, have hard water which will cause calcium and other mineral deposits building up in your plumbing fixtures such as your toilets. These deposits will in return cause build up in the small jet ports located underneath the bottom of the rim. When the toilet is flushed, this is where the water is transferred from the tank to the bowl. If the buildup is too great it will reduce the water transfer and not allow the unit to flush though its trap. When your commode is not flushing properly you may be risking blockages due to no water pressure to help “push” the waste out and down the sewer. In some cases, you may be able to rebuild parts in the toilet to help aid in the flushing process. The unit that was installed in the pictures also has an “easy to clean” feature where there are no edges and is completely smooth with no ridges to build up bacteria.
